Accessories Every Metal Detecting Hobbyist Needs
Keep it simple or make it complicated. Those are the two routes that most metal detecting hobbyists seem to take. Some of us like to have more gear than a special forces operative ready for battle, while others like the bare minimum. I have seen detectorists in forums and YouTube channels who carry three to four different styles of hand diggers with them, while others have one digger for every type of soil. There does not seem to be much gray area. It is either one extreme or the other.
Either way you look at it however, there is one truth for both sides. If you don’t have the right tool for the job, the job cannot be completed. Or at the very least becomes more difficult to complete.
So with that in mind, we are going to take a look at a plethora of accessories that a metal detectorist needs to have in his kit, depending on the scenario.
The Digger
This is easily the most important accessory to have in your kit. Without a hand digger, you will rarely be able to retrieve a target past 4 to 5 inches. Sure, some guys like to use a brass probe for shallow targets, but at depth they have severe limitations where a proper hand digger will be needed. The Digger from Teknetics is a great choice. It has a tough carbon steel blade that is 7.5 inches long and 2 inches wide, 12 inches overall length. It features 36 sharpened teeth to cut through grass and roots, a no-slip hand guard, and a comfortable rubber handle.

Headphones
Sure, most metal detectors come with a speaker built into the unit, however, they are not practical for busy parks and areas with background noise. You need a good pair of headphones to hear those faint signals. With true stereo sound and padded ear cups that swivel, the Teknetics headphones are a great choice. They have adjustable volume on each earcup and save battery life compared to using the external speaker.

Pin-Pointer
For me personally, this is a must have item. The faster you can retrieve a target, the more treasure you can place into your pouch by the end of your digging session. The Teknetics Tek-Point is in my opinion the best pi-pointer on the market today.
Pulse induction - waterproof to 10ft - adjustable LED brightness - ratchet retune - 3 levels of sensitivity - 3 response option (vibrate only/audio only/both combined) - lost alarm - abrasion resistant.
It is literally loaded with features that will get your pouch full in record time.

Gold Pick
Don’t think I forgot about you gold prospectors. Metal detecting for nuggets is hard work. Probably the hardest type of metal detecting there is. Gold bearing areas are usually associated with tough mineralized soil. You need much more than a hand digger to penetrate it.
This is where the Teknetics gold pick saves the day. Made with a tempered steel end, it chews through dirt to get to the gold bearing bedrock underneath. It has a fiberglass handle which keeps the weight down to 2lbs, and a rubberized grip to keep it from slipping out of your hands. A powerful rare earth magnet at the tip allows you to tell iron from the good stuff without breaking your back from bending down each and every target.

Rain Cover
You don’t need a waterproof detector for a little bit of rain. Teknetics has you covered with a neoprene rain and dust cover. It will keep the moisture on the outside instead of the inside, and always keep the detector free of dust and scratches. As somebody who has had some pretty scuffed up detectors from the elements, I can say this is one of the best purchases I have ever made to keep my detector looking new and staying dry.

Treasure Pouch
The whole point of metal detecting is finding that treasure buried underground. But what do you do once you have found it? Place it in your treasure pouch of course! With two large pockets and a belt to wrap around your waist, you can carry an insane amount of treasure around in this rugged pouch. Velcro patch to keep it shut so the good stay nice and safe.

Carry Bag
What good is having all of this equipment if you have no way to get it on scene. The Teknetics carry bag has tons of room to fit all of your accessories in. Even your detector will fit when you remove the bottom rod from it. Extra zipper pouch to place finds on the outside, and padded inner to keep your gear safe when traveling.

With these items from Teknetics in your arsenal. You will be ready to tackle all types of metal detecting conditions with ease.
